Celebrate Matariki - Maori New Year - at the Te Papa Matariki Festival - 10 June to 27 June (free events)
Matariki (or The Seven Sisters) is the name Maori call the Pleiades Star Cluster. The Maori celebration of new year occurs with the rise of Matariki in the night sky and the sighting of the next new moon.
